Inaugural Senior Resource Fair set for June 17

FARMINGTON — The Franklin County Domestic Violence Task Force will host ‘Polishing Your Golden Years: A Senior Resource Fair’ from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 17, in the G.H. Bass Room of Franklin Memorial Hospital in recognition of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. The resource fair will feature a variety of speakers on topics including fraud, personal safety, and prosecution of crimes targeting seniors, as well as information tables from local organizations that work with older adults.

A free breakfast and refreshments will be provided and prizes will be raffled. Participants are encouraged to bring any unwanted medications to the event, for collection through the Drug Take Back program. A video project will also be conducted throughout the morning. Those interested in participating will be asked to share, “What would you go back and say to your younger self, knowing what you know now” The fair is free and open to the public, and registration is not required.

The event is sponsored by Franklin Somerset Federal Credit Union, Otis Federal Credit Union, Senior Planning Center, Sparkes Hearing Services, and Mt. Blue Drug. Speakers include Jill Randall of Legal Services for the Elderly, Beth Beaudoin of University Credit Union, Det. Marc Bowering of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, and keynote speaker, A.D.A. Andrew Robinson.
