WATERVILLE — Richard Preston, a recent graduate of Erskine Academy, will perform at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 22, at the First Congregational Church, Eustis Parkway. Preston will play eight pieces by various composers, including Beethoven, Debussy, Gershwin and Poulenc.

The concert is the culmination of his piano tutelage for the last 10 years under Muriel Desrosiers, of Winslow. Preston also participated in the music program at Erskine Academy, singing with the Vocal Ensemble and playing percussion in Concert Band, Percussion Explosion and Jazz Combo, under the direction of music teacher James Johnson. Throughout his high school career, Richard performed with the District III Honors Band, the All-State Honors Band, the Mid-Maine Youth Orchestra, the Acadia Wind Ensemble, and several Piano Monster Festivals under the direction of Dr. Ginger Hwalek of the University of Maine.

He plans to attend Tufts School of Engineering in the fall.
