WATERVILLE — Derek Bowen delivered a pinch-hit single in the bottom of the seventh as Post 51 edged Madison, 3-2, in Zone 2 American Legion Baseball action Wednesday evening at Colby College.
Post 51 (1-0) led 2-0 before Madison rallied in the sixth. Kam Nelson walked, and DJ Allen followed with a two-run homer.
Post 51 scored a run in the first inning on a solo homer by Joe LeClair and another in the second on Alex Chesley’s RBI single. In the seventh, LeClair walked with one out, stole second and moved to third on Danny Pooler’s single before Bowen’s walk-off hit.
Cody Martin pitched five innings for Post 51, allowing two hits and striking out eight. Devin Warren earned the win in relief. Pooler added two singles.
