VASSALBORO — The Vassalboro Business Association has announced its two $500 scholarship winners. They are Rebecca Reed, who will be attending Gordon College in Wenham, Mass., and Walker Mark Thompson, who will be attending Kennebec Valley Community College in Fairfield, both of Vassalboro.
Reed would like to become a music educator and plans to receive a master’s degree in performance. She has been an active volunteer with the American Cancer Society.
Thompson has been a volunteer firefighter in Vassalboro since he turned 17. He has participated in the Trek Across Maine for the last four years to raise money for the American Lung Association. He has played hockey since he was 3 years old. He was the recipient of the Nate Frost award and the All State Award for Defense. This past season, he was selected assistant captain and played in the winter classic all star game.
