Roland L. Cummings, charged with killing Waterville resident Aurele Fecteau in May, also stole two rings, according to an indictment handed up by a Kennebec County grand jury and filed Friday.
Cummings, 44, is being held at the Kennebec County jail on a murder charge, two counts of burglary and one count of theft.

The indictment states that Cummings killed Fecteau, 92, and stole a diamond-and-sapphire ring and a Scott Paper Co. gold-and-diamond commemorative ring during a break-in at Fecteau’s home on May 20.
Cummings, who grew up in the Bingham and Waterville areas, was unemployed and did household chores for Fecteau, according to police.
Fecteau’s body was found at his home on Brooklyn Avenue by a family member on May 23. Waterville police went to the home and called Maine State Police for assistance after ruling the death suspicious.
On May 24, Cummings told police he had been staying with a woman in Skowhegan while he was looking for a job and that he had last been in Fectau’s house briefly three weeks earlier.
Cummings gave police a DNA sample, according to state police Detective Abbe Chabot’s affidavit, then the next day told them he needed money for his suboxone prescription and asked Fecteau if he had any work he could do. Cummings said when he visited Fecteau, he went into the bathroom and rifled through his pockets, stealing $2 in change.
In the affidavit, Chabot wrote that police later interviewed the Skowhegan woman, and she identified two rings she had received from Cummings and later sold to her former landlords. One of Fecteau’s sons, David Fecteau, identified one of the rings as belonging to his father.
The home, at 33 Brooklyn Ave., is near Waterville Senior High School and the Mid-Maine Technical Center.
