Discounts, prizes, more available for those who join in the next two months

WATERVILLE — The Waterville Opera House recently announced a new membership program with benefits and, for those who decide to participate in the next two months, a contest with grand prizes, according to a WOH press release.

According to Marketing Director Dick Dyer, “Anyone who purchases the $30 membership will receive one free ticket to a high-definition broadcast from the Metropolitan Opera or the National Theatre from London, a 10 percent discount on all Opera House productions for one year and at one week’s advance on ticket purchases before sales are available to the general public.”

“As an added bonus,” Dyer said in the release, “the Opera House is conducting a contest in July and August. Anyone who buys a membership, or signs up for our electronic newsletter, likes us on Facebook or follows us on Twitter will be automatically entered to win one of two grand-prize season passes for two people worth about $1,000 and for a variety of other prizes. No purchase is necessary to win a prize.”

Other businesses in the area are signing up to participate in the membership program and are offering their own discounts for people who present membership cards at their locations. For example, the Best Western Hotel and Amici’s Cucini Restaurant are offering 10 percent discounts. Details of participating businesses will be available on the Opera House web site: operahouse.org or by contacting the business directly.

“We want to offer the membership,” Dyer said in the release, “because we know people want ways to support the Opera House and to save money at the same time. Last year was a great year with more than 160 shows. This membership will help us with upfront costs associated with producing our season and thank our members with a discount to the shows they love throughout the entire year.”

To obtain a membership, call 873-7000 between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. daily. Members will receive a membership card for their individual use when they call for all future ticket purchases. No purchase is necessary to enter the contest, so anyone who asked to be on the Opera House electronic mailing list, or likes the Opera House on Facebook or follows the Opera House on Twitter will be automatically be entered to win a prize.
