The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department is looking for information about who damaged construction barricades meant to steer drivers from a washed-out section of road in Phillips.

The barricades at Reeds Mill Road and Toothaker Pond Road were destroyed between 8:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday morning. The ditch the barricades blocked was caused by heavy rain and flooding earlier this summer, said Lt. David Rackliffe.

Someone also earlier destroyed a “No Thru Trucks” sign in the same area, Rackliffe said. He said area residents reported seeing a small blue car driving erratically in the area, and there was blue paint left behind on sign base.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department asks anyone with information call778-6140 or use the anonymous tip line by texting FRANKTIP and the tip information to 274637 or at www.franklincounty-me.org.
