WATERVILLE — City Manager Michael Roy said Wednesday that the city is expecting a shipment of 1,000 Ecomaine recycling bins Thursday, to be given away between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Friday at a recycling information session at Kennebec Valley Community Action Program on Water Street.

Residents are not required to use the Ecomaine bins for curbside recycling — they may use any rigid container, including a plastic or metal trash can, as long as it bears the word “recycle.”

The session Friday is one of four held in the city in recent weeks to help prepare residents for a new pay-as-you-throw trash collection system. The recycling part of the program starts Monday.
