Traffic on Interstate 95 backed up from Fairfield to Clinton for hours on Sunday after a truck carrying a camper flipped over, blocking both southbound lanes.
Paul Adams, 83, was driving his 2003 Chevy truck hauling the 26-foot trailer about 11 a.m. when he lost control of the vehicle, according to Sgt. Blaine Bronson, of the Maine State Police.

Rescue workers said initial reports indicated that the camper began to shimmy left and right, unbalancing the truck.
At some point, the truck jackknifed, causing the camper to roll and come off of its frame, Bronson said.
No one was harmed in the accident, which took place around mile marker 134, just before a construction area.
Because the camper lost its wheels in the accident, it was difficult to clear it from the road. Three towing companies worked with police over a four-hour period before finally clearing the roadway shortly after 3 p.m.
Bronson said police are investigating the possibility that a mechanical failure in the trailer’s hitch system caused the accident.
