A 60-year-old China woman was summoned for operating under the influence and extensively damaged her pickup truck when she slid off China Road in Winslow Wednesday night.
Deborah Gurney, driving a 2014 Toyota Tacoma, struck a mailbox in front of a driveway, according to Winslow Police Lt. Josh Veilleux.
He said police suspected Gurney was under the influence of alcohol and after a breath test she was summoned on the class D operating under the influence.
“She did have some alcohol in her system. She was not highly intoxicated,” he said.
“It was pouring out and she was having a hard time seeing. Her right wheel hit the soft shoulder of the road, and because it was raining so hard it sucked her down the embankment,” he said.
