RUMFORD — Haley Fletcher scored twice to lead Monmouth to a 3-1 win over Mountain Valley in a Mountain Valley Conference girls soccer game Friday.
Sidney Wilson scored Monmouth’s first goal on a penalty kick. Leanne McNally scored Mountain Valley’s goal, also on a penalty kick. Mickayla Cameron made 11 saves in net for the Mustangs (1-0), while Karen Flaherty stopped 18 shots for the Falcons (0-1).
CARRABEC 5, WINTHROP 1: Paige Chadbourne had two goals and an assist to lead the Cobras past the Ramblers in an MVC game in Winthrop.
Lexie Cowan, Brooklynn Moore and Kilee Nile each added goals for Carrabec (1-0). Cobras goalkeeper Stephanie Cossaboom had five saves.
Sierra Huff scored the lone goal for Winthrop (0-1). Goalkeeper Kennedy Connor had 17 saves.
MT. ARARAT 3, MESSALONSKEE 2: Taylor Poissonnier and McKenna Brodeur each tallied goals for Messalonskee in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A loss to Mt. Ararat in Oakland.
Cassidy Charette and Lauren Pickett each had assists for Messalonskee (0-1).
ST. DOMINIC 2, HALL-DALE 1: Kristen Connor scored an unassisted goal late in the second half to snap a 1-1 draw and lift the Saints in the regular seasonopener for both teams.
Conner gave St. Dom’s (1-0-0) a 1-0 lead in the first half before Thea Sweet tied it for the Bulldogs early in the second half. Olivia Maynard had eight saves for Hall-Dale.
LISBON 3, OAK HILL 2: Deliah Schrieber scored all three goals to lead the Greyhounds to the MVC win in Wales.
Hannah Nadeau scored both goals for the Raiders, who led 2-1 at the half before Lisbon rallied.
Abby Gamash, Emma Houle and Drew Stewart-Staples each had assists for the Greyhounds.
Jasmine Le had 10 saves for Lisbon (1-0-0) while Abby Dodge had five for Oak Hill (0-1-0).
BOYS SOCCER
MARANACOOK 6, GARDINER 3: Hayden Elwell scored three goals to lead the Black Bears to a KVAC B win over the Tigers in Gardiner.
Kent Moehler, Kody Solmitz and Ryan Roy each added goals for Maranacook (1-0).
Jake Folsom, Kaleb Marston and Josh Caldwell all scored goals for Gardiner (0-1).
FIELD HOCKEY
MESSALONSKEE 8, MT. ARARAT 0: Emily Hogan scored five goals to lead the Eagles to the KVAC A win in Oakland.
Ally Turner add a goal and two assists for the Eagles (2-0). Riley Field and Haley Lowell also scored. Shelby French made one save.
Haley Frizzle stopped 22 shots for Mt. Ararat (0-2).
OAK HILL 10, HALL-DALE 0: Hayley Marshall scored four goals to lead the Raiders to an MVC win over the Bulldogs in Farmingdale.
Kylee Veilleux scored a goal and added an assist, while Danielle Sampson, Hayden Spencer, Erica Hannigan, Sadie Goulet and Kayla Veilleux each added a goal for Oak Hill (2-0).
Kiera Young had two assists, while Autumn Frechette and Abby Asselin added assists for the Raiders.
Goalkeeper Molly French had 37 saves for Hall-Dale (0-2).
MCI 3, MARANACOOK 1: Kali Doiron, Addi Williams and Elly Arsenault each scored to lead the Huskies. Mikayla Carr needed to make just one save to earn the win for the Huskies (1-0).
Amber Ridlon scored the long goal for the Black Bears (0-1).
