Two men were charged with criminal speeding this past weekend for allegedly driving more than twice the posted speed limit on the same stretch of Lucy Knowles Road in Farmington.

On Friday at 1:05 p.m., Officer Derek Doucette reported seeing a driver going about 70 mph, and when he turned on his radar, he registered the car going 67 mph in a 30 mph zone, said Farmington Police Secretary Rachel Heseltine.

Doucette pulled over Todd Jones, 39, of Skowhegan, who was driving with his wife and a baby in a car seat in the back seat of the car. Jones told the officer that he was trying to pass a truck, which is why he was speeding.

Jones was arrested on the charge of criminal speeding and endangering the welfare of a child.

“Then there was another speeder the next day at the exact same time and exact same place,” Heseltine said.

She said that at around 1 p.m., Doucette reported seeing a driver going about 64 mph, and when he was tracked on radar, he was going 64 mph.

Heseltine said Doucette pulled over Brian Young, 40, who was summoned on the charge of going 30 mph more than the speed limit.
