The Cony football team opened its season where it left off in 2013: With an impressive victory.

The Rams defeated Messalonskee in Week 1 and will travel to Brewer on Friday night for a Pine Tree Conference Class B game with the Witches.

This week, Cony junior linebacker/running back Reid Shostak took some time to answer a few questions.

What is your favorite sports team?

New England Patriots

Who is your favorite football player?

Tom Brady

When did you first start playing football?

As young as when I first started playing sports with my brothers, probably like 3 (years old). I started playing flag football a year earlier than I was allowed to because I was bigger.

Have you always been a running back and linebacker?

I played lineman for one year in fourth grade, and then I lost some weight and started playing running back.

If you weren’t playing running back, what position would you like to play?

Wide receiver

What do you like most about football?

Probably the contact, probably the camaraderie with the team.

If you had to pick a favorite moment from playing high school football, what would it be?

Too many to choose. Probably the state championship, but there have been a lot.

If you weren’t playing football, what would you be doing?

Maybe golfing? I’ve done it once and it seemed all right.

What stands out to you most about this year’s team?

We’re really tight
