Nobody was hurt Tuesday when a school bus carrying Hall-Dale middle and high school students crashed on Maine Avenue in Farmingdale.

Regional School Unit 2 Superintendent Virgil Hammonds said the driver and students on the bus were not hurt and that the bus sustained only minor damage. It has already returned to service, Hammonds said.

The crash occurred shortly before 3 p.m. when there was a multi-vehicle, chain-reaction accident in front of the bus, Hammonds said. The driver couldn’t stop the bus in time to avoid the stopped car in front of it.

The accident meant students on the bus and some elementary school students were delayed in arriving home.
