PORTLAND — A Missouri man who threatened to “start the worst … bloodbath in America” unless his ex-girlfriend left her new home in Maine and returned to him in Missouri has pleaded guilty to interstate stalking.

William McBroom-Stees, of Springfield, Missouri, entered his plea to a superseding indictment this week in U.S. District Court in Portland.

The 42-year-old McBroom-Stees faces up to five years in prison at sentencing, which has not yet been scheduled.

Prosecutors say over several days last November, the defendant made hundreds of threatening telephone calls to his ex-girlfriend and mother of his child as she relocated to Maine. In the calls and text messages, McBroom-Stees threatened to kill and harm her and her immediate family unless she returned to Missouri by the child’s birthday.
