The Maine Community Foundation, Maine Development Foundation, and Efficiency Maine have announced the first round of grants from the Grants to Green program, which helps nonprofits increase the energy efficiency of historic downtown buildings.
Eight organizations were awarded grants ranging from $1,300 to $2,000 to conduct energy audits, including Lincoln County Community Theater and Orchestra in Damariscotta and the Waterville Opera House in Waterville. Grants were also awarded to Center Theatre, Dover-Foxcroft; Cornish Library Association; Dyer Library Association, Saco; Eastern Maine Development Corporation, Bangor; Island Institute, Rockland; and the Pejepscot Historical Society, Brunswick.
