SKOWHEGAN — The 2nd Annual No One Fights Alone 5k Walk/Run took place Saturday and raised $20,000. Proceeds raised will benefit The Lustgarten Foundation and will be used for pancreatic cancer research. All administrative and overhead costs are underwritten by Cablevision. The event, inspired by Brian Michonski’s battle, which he recently lost, was attended by more than 500 participants. Event organizers were pleased to see the outpouring of love and support from the teams and individuals that ran or walked in honor or memory of loved ones.

A highlight of the event was Rep. Jeff McCabe, assistant majority leader of the house, of Skowhegan, presented the official resolution stating Maine recognizes November as pancreatic cancer awareness month. Maine is in the top five states with the highest occurrences of pancreatic cancer.
