A service for a Messalonskee High School student who took her life last week has been moved to Faith Evangelical Church in Waterville.
Nora Birch, 17, of Belgrade, died last Tuesday. She had been an advanced placement student, and was active in music and drama groups. She had hoped to attend Colby, Bowdoin or University of Maine Farmington next year, according to her obituary.
The service, originally scheduled for the Performing Arts Center at the high school in Oakland has been moved to the church. Family members said that Birch was a born-again Christian who was active in Bible groups in Belgrade and Livermore Falls.
The remembrance gathering will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Faith Evangelical Church, 250 Kennedy Memorial Drive, Waterville. A funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, at Belgrade Bible Church, Route 27, Belgrade.
