AUGUSTA — Mainers who want to vote by mail in the midterm election must do so soon.

The deadline to register by mail or through a voter registration drive is Tuesday Oct. 14. Mainers can still register to vote in person at a town office or city hall through Election Day.

On Nov. 4, voters will decide the hotly contested race for Maine governor, as well as who will represent Maine’s 1st and 2nd Congressional Districts. Also on the ballot are the candidates for one of Maine’s U.S. Senate seats and the state legislature.
