Much can and has already been said about Republican state Sen. Roger Katz’ propensity to work across party lines in order to get along with the “other side.”

I don’t believe Katz and a handful of other legislators of his caliber look across the aisle and see an adversary. They see another Mainer — perhaps with a differing point of view, but on the same side with respect to getting things done for the betterment of the people of Maine.

Katz has patiently persevered in recent years, as we’ve all endured the unsavory climate in Augusta. This period of unparalleled and unnecessary embarrassment and distraction from what needs to get done to get Maine back on the right road has been troubling. But we’ll surely get there if we re-elect Katz, and men and women of infinite patience and intelligence to leadership positions.
