I am writing this letter in support of Mark André, Republican candidate for state representative in District 110.

André has been criticized for a mailer that made the simple statement that if we elect politicians with a proven track record of wastefully spending our money, taxes will go up for the hard-working families of our community. The mailer pictured a purple garbage bag as a representative image of the type of taxes residents should expect from politicians who make laundry lists of promises at our doors.

André has made it clear that he has no intention of supporting wasteful spending programs that would raise taxes on Maine’s hard-working families. If his opponent, Rep. Henry Beck, D-Waterville, has a plan to pay for the programs he has promised without raising taxes, he should say so. Also, if Beck does not support the pay-as-you-throw program, he should refrain from supporting local candidates who do.
