FARMINGTON —The University of Maine has announced its November calendar of events. All activities are open to the public.

• The nonprofit organization Silent Sidekicks willl give a talk to provide information and education about animal-assisted therapy and activities at 7:30 p.m. Monday at The Landing, UMF Olsen Student Center. There is no cost. For more information, call 754-3530 or email emily.marron@maine.edu.

• A high ropes course will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Tuesday, Nov. 18, at the Fitness and Recreation Center. • On Sunday, Nov. 9, a horseback trail riding trip to Deepwoods Farm in Bethel will be offered. Participants should bring a lunch and wear sturdy shoes. The cost is $10 per person. • The UMF Community Orchestra with Mes Amis will give a concert of waltzes, gypsy jazz, rags and more at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9, at Nordica Auditorium, UMF Merrill Hall. • Geocaching in Flintwoods will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, at the UMF Fitness and Recreation Center. Participants will locate hidden treasures with GPS trackers. • The seventh annual Turkey Trot 5K, 10K and one-mile fun run will be held on Saturday, Nov. 22, at the Fitness and Recreation Center. Registration costs $15 in advance or $20 on the day of the race; $10 in advance or $15 on race day for UMF students ; and $5 in advance or $8 on race day for the children’s fun run and walk, for children 10 and younger.
