AUBURN — A former Auburn city councilor who also once published a local magazine and organized a community film festival has been indicted on child pornography charges.

An Androscoggin County grand jury on Wednesday handed up an indictment against 38-year-old Joshua Shea, including 10 charges of possession of sexually explicit materials that depicted a person younger than 12 engaging in sexually explicit conduct, and two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.

Shea was arrested in March and is free on $500 cash bail and is barred from having contact with anyone under 18 and barred from having Internet access.

His attorney, David Van Dyke, tells the Sun Journal (http://bit.ly/1s8Pwcj ) that Shea has been undergoing counseling and is “doing all the right things” and “looks to get past this.”
