Times were: That man lords it over the earth, and everything in it is for his benefit. That animals had no minds or souls and did not feel pain, therefore they were inferior and exploitable.

This kind of thought was used to justify all manner of cruelty and just about anything was OK.

Today: Beating or mistreating animals can get one a hefty fine or jail term.

Perhaps we are now beginning to live by more humane, rather than such archaic ways of thinking.

As for me, I don’t want to be caught in any kind of trap.
