MADISON — A local man is facing charges of aggravated drug trafficking after police say they discovered dozens of prescription pills and more than $30,000 in cash hidden under a bedroom carpet at a home on East Madison Road.

Dustin Michael Page, 25, of Madison, was already facing other drug related charges stemming from the alleged sale of oxycodone pills in July and a probation violation for a drug trafficking conviction in 2011.

Page was arrested Thursday on charges of aggravated trafficking of scheduled drugs and three counts of unlawful possession of scheduled drugs, according to court records.

He told police that he does not use illegal drugs and is not currently prescribed medication, but that he sells 30 milligram oxycodone pills and occasionally methadone pills, a pain-relieving drug that is often used to treat heroin or other narcotic addiction, according to an affidavit filed in court by Sgt. Michael Knight of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Department. Page estimates that he sold between 300 and 400 oxycodone pills in the last month, at a price of between $32 and $35 per pill, according to the affidavit.

He allegedly sold the drugs in Skowhegan and rented a car when he traveled to and from drug sales.

During a search of Page’s home, police allegedly discovered oxycodone pills along with methadone pills and Flexeril, a muscle relaxant, hidden in his bedroom. They also found more than $30,000 in cash hidden under the carpeting in the bedroom and said Page admitted the cash was proceeds from selling illegal drugs, according to the affidavit.

Page has two young children that were at home both times police searched the house, according to the court records.

In 2011, Page was convicted on a charge of unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs for selling oxycodone and was sentenced to four years in prison, all suspended, and two years of probation. He has allegedly violated probation twice, including in July when police allegedly found almost 600 oxycodone pills and 75 methadone pills at his house.

Police arrested him on charges of unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs and probation violation, but he was released on a summons. He was in custody Friday at the Somerset County Jail in East Madison and is scheduled to appear in court on those charges on Dec. 2.

He is scheduled to appear in court on the new charges on Jan. 14.
