PARIS — A man has been sentenced to nine months in prison for stealing the pain medication of a blind man who uses a wheelchair.
The Sun Journal reports that Daniel Keirstead, of Sandy River Plantation, was also sentenced to three years of probation, after he agreed to plead no contest to felony charges of robbery, burglary and stealing drugs. He was fined $400, barred from having contact with the victim and prohibited from using drugs and alcohol.
Prosecutors say last December the 26-year-old Keirstead and a co-defendant entered the victim’s Rumford apartment, placed a hand over his face so he could not yell and took 159 oxycodone pills from his pants. The victim had a prescription for the painkillers.
The victim knew Keirstead and the co-defendant.
