A rural mail carrier was taken by LifeFlight to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston following a single-vehicle crash Thursday.

Ronald Webb, 59, of Pittston, was traveling on Hallowell-Litchfield Road at about 2:20 p.m. Thursday when his vehicle went off the road and hit a tree.

His condition was not available and a hospital spokeswoman later Thursday said Webb was no longer at the hospital. No other information was available.

West Gardiner Deputy Fire Chief Gary Hickey said Webb was driving a personal vehicle. Firefighters helped with extrication and blocking the road for about half an hour until the vehicle could be moved.

The crash was investigated by Maine State Police.
