The Smithers Group is relocating the 11 jobs in Falmouth to Akron, Ohio.
A Falmouth company that produces corporate market reports, conferences and publishing materials is relocating to its headquarters in Akron, Ohio.
According to a press release from Smithers Group, the company is relocating its information division on Northbrook Drive to Akron to work more closely with Smithers’ technical experts in Ohio on new product and service offerings.
The 11 people who staff the Maine operation will be offered jobs in Akron and assistance to relocate. They were notified of the decision Monday.
“Making this change is difficult,” said Michael Hochschwender, CEO and president, in the release. “The team in Portland has contributed significantly to the success of our North American information services. In addition we have consistently received tremendous support from the local Portland community. However, when considering the overall benefits of having our staff co-located in Akron, the decision to move proved compelling.”
The relocation is expected to be completed by the summer of 2015.
The Falmouth operation was originally part of PIRA, formerly the Printing Industry Research Association, and acquired by Smithers in 2010.
Smithers Group offers clients an independent global source of market, technical and business information. Founded in 2002, it has offices in Asia and laboratories in North America and Europe. Its other U.S. locations include Ravenna, Ohio; Brimley, Michigan; Wareham, Massachusetts; and Snow Camp, North Carolina.
