Gardiner’s Monkitree named quarter-finalist for Indie Award

Monkitree of Gardiner is a quarter-finalist in the 2014 Independent We Stand Independent Small Business of the Year Award, according to a press release from Independent We Stand.

Monkitree opened in Gardinere in 2010 and showcases the work of Maine artists and craftspeople as well as handcrafted items from around the country, according to the release.

The business is owned and operated by Clare Marron. “I was thrilled to be nominated by a community member,” Marron said in the release. “It means so much to me to be recognized for the work I do.”

She said the fact that her dog Bo, a boxer, was included in the nomination and “is the icing on the cake.”

Beyond contributing to the local economy, small businesses give to their communities in various ways, the release stated. Marron is on the Gardiner Main Street board, The Creativity Fund and the city’s Ordinance Review and Historic Preservation committees.

“It is our responsibility to help create the community we want to live in,” Marron said.

This year’s quarter-finalists are a great representation of independent businesses across the country, and this award is our way of recognizing these businesses for their outstanding efforts within the communities they serve.”

Voting for the winner is underway at www.IndieBizAward.com through Dec. 14. Voters can cast one vote a day. The winner will be announced Dec. 17.

Lemire joins Augusta’s Nadeau Chiropractic

Dr. Angela Lemire has joined Nadeau Chiropractic & Wellness Center, 3 Health Drive, Augusta, the practice, founded by Dr. Andre Nadeau, announced.

Lemire is a graduate of Palmer Chiropractic College in Davenport, Iowa. She brings with her a cutting edge knowledge base of the latest approaches used in chiropractic healthcare, using an approach that acknowledges the structure and function of the body as many different systems operating as one, according to a news release from Nadeau Chiropractic.

Lemire is a native of Livermore Fallse. Before joining Nadeau Chiropractic, she provided short-term coverage in Maine for vacationing chiropractors.

“After meeting Dr. Nadeau and the team, I knew this clinical environment would be the best setting for me to provide patients with the comprehensive care I provide and more importantly, care they deserve,” she said in the release. “I am truly excited to be here and have the opportunity to help people achieve a new level of wellness.”

Dubord joins Waterville law firm Jabar & LaLiberty

The Waterville law firm of Jabar & LaLiberty announced last week that Waterville attorney Daniel J. Dubord will joining the firm as a partner. The name of the firm will be Jabar, LaLiberty & Dubord, LLC, the firm announced in a press release. It is located at 1 Center St., Waterville.

Dubord is a graduate of Waterville High School, and earned a bachelor’s degree at the College of the Holy Cross and a juris doctor at the University of New Hampshire School of Law.

His practice areas include residential and commercial real estate, business formation and corporate formation, estate planning and estate settlement, including wills and trusts, the release said.

Dubord is a member of the Waterville, Kennebec, state of Maine and American Bar Associations and is active in numerous local groups, including the Alfond Youth Center, the American Cancer Society and lake restoration efforts in the China area, where he resides.

He has been serving clients throughout thestate since his admission into the Bar in 1977.

Dubord this year was voted Greater Waterville Area’s Best Attorney by Market Surveys of America for the fifth year in a row, the release said.

Brassbridge TD Banks’ new retail market manager

Christopher L. Brassbridge has been named retail market manager, at TD Bank, based in Portland, a press release from the bank announced this week.

Brassbridge, a Canaan native, will be responsible foroverseeing customer service, sales growth and employee development atthe 22 TD Bank stores in his region, stretching from South Portland to Brunswick, the bank said.

Brassbridge has six years of combined experience in banking and insurance. He joined TD Bank< in 2010 as team manager and later served as group manager at the bank¹s contact center in Auburn, before his most recent position as vice president, store manager in Portland.

Brassbridge is a resident of New Gloucester, and received an MBA from Thomas College in Waterville in 2012 and an undergraduate degree from the University of Southern Maine in Portland in 2004.

He is originally from Canaan and graduated from Skowhegan Area High School in 1999.
