DAMARISCOTTA — Skidompha Public Library’s Chats with Champions series will continue Thursday, Dec. 4, with a talk by Reza Jalali, writer, educator and Muslim scholar.
Jalali has written the foreword to “New Mainers,” a book on immigrant’s experiences in Maine, according to a news release from the library. His children book, “Moon Watchers,” has received a Skipping Stones Honor Award for Multicultural Book. He is also author of a short story collection, “Homesick Mosque and Other Stories,” and his play, “The Poets and the Assassin,” about women in Iran and Islam, has been staged at Bates College, Bowdoin College, the University of Southern Maine and the University of New England. He is the Muslim adviser at Bowdoin College, a position he previously held at Bates College, and coordinates the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs at the University of Southern Maine, according to the news release.
Jalali will read passages from his books and talk about his experiences. The event will begin at 10 a.m. in the library’s Porter Meeting Hall. There is no cost. For more information, call 563-5513.
