Rome residents can now pay their excise taxes and register their motor vehicles at their own Town Office again.

They can register snowmobiles, all-terrain vehicles and boats and obtain hunting and fishing licenses there as well.

Most of those services were unavailable at the Rome Town Office from Sept. 2 through Nov. 24 because of the illness of Jackie Knight, who was elected town clerk in March.

In the interim, Rome residents were able to do some transactions at the Belgrade Town Office.

However, Rome’s Town Office has reopened.

Richard LaBelle has been trained as excise tax collector and deputy town clerk and Kim Brooks is also a deputy town clerk. The two completed training Tuesday that enables them to issue snowmobile, boat and ATV registrations and hunting and fishing licenses, according to LaBelle.

The new hours are 2 to 6 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, and 9 to 11:30 a.m. on the first and third Saturdays of the month.

The Town Office is at 8 Mercer Road. Its phone number is 397-4011.
