MANCHESTER — An Augusta man was injured Wednesday afternoon in a head-on collision with a truck that shut down U.S. Route 202 in Manchester, police said.
Christopher Corliss, 37, drove across the center line and collided head-on with an oncoming box truck driven by Chris Polley, 39, of Guilford, according to police.
Corliss had to be freed from the car by rescue workers and was being treated at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston for injuries that were not life-threatening, according to a release from Steve McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety. Polley was not injured.
Alcohol is being looked at as a possible factor in the wreck, according to McCausland. The accident also happened during heavy rain as a storm moved through the region, creating slick driving conditions.
Route 202 in Manchester was shut down for about 90 minutes following the 2:39 p.m. accident Wednesday. The accident happened in front of the Augusta Country Club.
