OAKLAND — Nick Mayo scored 25 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as the Messalonskee boys basketball team improved to 2-0 with a 59-39 win over Brewer in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B win in Oakland.
Jack Bernatchez had six rebounds for Messalonskee, while Sawyer Michaud had five assists.
Matt Pushard led Brewer (1-1) with seven points.
FOREST HILLS 68, PINE TREE 45: Tanner Daigle scored 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Tigers to the Class D win in Jackman.
Brandon Ouellette had 10 assists to go with eight points for Forest Hills (3-0), while Ryan Petrin had 12 points and 12 boards.
Chris Wilday led Pine Tree (0-2) with 18 points.
MT. BLUE 59, SKOWHEGAN 46: Zack Mittelstatt scored 25 points to lead the Cougars to a KVAC A win in Skowhegan.
Evan Backus scored 19 points for Mt. Blue (1-0), while Brad Durrell added seven points.
DuQuan Frost led Skowhegan (1-1) with 13 points.
HALL-DALE 59, OAK HILL 31: Bryson Camp scored a game-high 17 points to lead the Bulldogs to the Mountain Valley Conference win in Farmingdale.
Wesley Lapointe added 10 points and 16 rebounds for Hall-Dale (2-1) while Brian Allen chipped in with 10 points. Drew Gamage led Oak Hill (1-2) with eight points.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
OAK HILL 63, HALL-DALE 32: Sadie Goulet and Meagan Crosby led a balanced Oak Hill scoring attack with nine points apiece as the Raiders topped Hall-Dale in MVC action in Wales.
Jamie Prue and Bri Mulherin added eight points apiece for the Raiders (2-0). Dani Sweet led the Bulldogs (1-1) with nine points.
PINE TREE 39, FOREST HILLS 35: A fourth quarter rally fell just short for the Tigers, who dropped a Class D game in Jackman.
Trailing 34-18 after three quarters, Forest Hills (2-1) went on a 17-5 run. Alex Goodman led Pine Tree (3-0) with 29 points.
Keely Taylor scored 15 points for Forest Hills.
MESSALONSKEE 62, BREWER 38: Sophie Holmes had 25 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Eagles to the KVAC A win in Brewer.
Ally Turner added nine points and two steals for Messalonskee (2-0) while McKenna Broduer chipped in 10 points.
Brewer (0-2) was led by Courtney Pearson with 16 points.
