Local volunteer Ninette Fenlason, of Oakland, was recently recognized for countless hours of service to the community. Local Modern Woodmen of America announced in a news releases that members honored Fenlason as a hometown hero.

Fenlason was be recognized for her countless hours of work in support of the activities and goals of our High School students, as a class advisor, mentor, educator, organizer of fundraisers, and yearbook advisor, through Modern Woodmen’s Hometown Heroes Program. As part of this program, members of the local Modern Woodmen chapter presented the recipient with a certificate and a $100 award grant, to be presented to the charitable organization of the honoree’s choice.

“The Hometown Hero program allows us to thank those who give back to the community and encourage others to volunteer,” says Patrick Linehan, local Modern Woodmen chapter activities coordinator, in the release.

Coordinated by local Modern Woodmen members, chapters provide opportunities to take part in social activities and community service projects to meet local needs.
