AUGUSTA — Thanks to a 10-1 scoring advantage in the fourth quarter, the Cony girls basketball team was able to edge Brewer 34-32 for its first win of the season in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A game Thursday night.
Kate Silva had seven points and six rebounds, while Sydney Cheever added eight points for the Rams (1-4).
Courtney Pearson led the Witches (0-5) with nine points.
EDWARD LITTLE 55, MESSALONSKEE 42: The Eddies outscored the Eagles 33-24 in the second half to earn the KVAC A win in Auburn.
Emily Jacques scored a game-high 22 points to lead Edward Little (4-1).
Sophie Holmes led Messalonskee (2-3) with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Ally Turner added 12 points.
RICHMOND 32, PINE TREE 16: Kelsea Anair had 10 steals to go along with seven points as the Bobcats earned the Class D win in Portland.
Meranda Martin also had 10 steals with four points for Richmond (3-1) while Sidney Tilton added eight points and eight rebounds.
Pine Tree (4-1) was led by Alex Goodman with eight points.
OAK HILL 57, LISBON 27: Brianna Mulherin scored 19 points to lead the Raiders to the Mountain Valley Conference win in Lisbon. Sadie Goulet added 11 points for Oak Hill (4-0).
Lisbon (0-3) was led by Mia Durgin with seven points.
BOYS BASKETBALL
RICHMOND 57, PINE TREE 41: Bailey Johansen had 12 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Bobcats to the Class D win in Portland.
Tyler Soucy led all scorers with 18 points for Richmond (4-0).
Pine Tree falls to 1-4.
CONY 61, BREWER 57: Ben Leet scored a game-high 25 points to lead the Rams to the KVAC A win in Brewer.
Liam Stokes added 14 points, 12 coming from the free throw line, for Cony (3-2).
Brewer (2-3) was led by Logan Rogerson with 16 points.
