WATERVILLE — A four-goal flurry in the second period allowed the Waterville Senior High School hockey team to remain undefeated Thursday with a 7-0 victory over Hampden Academy in an Eastern B game at Colby College.
Jackson Aldrich and Justin Wentworth each scored two goals while Michael Oliveira had a goal and two assists to lead the Purple Panthers (3-0-0).
Gunnar Hann and Nick Denis also scored for Waterville while Nathan Pinette had 17 saves to earn the shutout.
Cole Benner had 27 saves to pace the Broncos (0-2-0).
After a relatively slow start, Wentworth finally got the Purple Panthers on the scoreboard with a goal off a wrist shot in transition with 53.7 seconds remaining in the opening period.
From there, it was all Waterville.
Aldridge doubled the Purple Panthers advantage 2:05 into the second after getting free for a breakaway and beating goaltender Benner gloveside after a series of fakes.
From there, goals from Hann, Oliveira and a second from Wentworth put things away for the Purple Panthers with a commanding 5-0 advantage.
