A Friday morning fire destroyed a home at 34 East Houghton St. in Madison.

Madison, Skowhegan and Anson fire departments responded to the blaze reported at 10:44 a.m. Friday. Madison Deputy Chief Don French said no one was injured in the blaze, but the one-story home was a total loss, engulfed in flame when firefighters arrived on scene.

French said firefighters took about 30 minutes to bring the blaze under control and were on the scene for about two hours.

He said firefighters had responded to the home in relation to an electrical issue earlier, but the damage was too extensive to tell if an electrical problem had caused the fire.

The state fire marshal’s office is investigating the fire, he said.
