WATERVILLE — The City of Waterville Department of Public Works will begin to pick up Christmas trees the week of Jan. 5, 2015, weather permitting, according to a news release from the department.

Trees should be left at the curb. All decorations, tinsel and stands should be removed. Residents may also discard trees at the Quarry Road Recreation Area off North Street. Trees should be placed on the left side of the road below the I-95 overpass. Trees collected by public works or dropped off will be used as a children’s maze during the Quarry Road Winter Carnival event scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 31, 2014. Trees will later be chipped and reused as mulch.
