READFIELD — Christine Miller became the third player in Maranacook girls basketball history to score 1,000 career points but it was not enough as the Black Bears dropped a 64-42 decision to undefeated Spruce Mountain.

Miller — who needed 17 points coming into the contest and finished with 18 — scored her 1,000th on a foul shot in the fourth quarter. Catherine Sanborn joined Miller in double figures with 12 points for Maranacook (5-1).

Emily Keene had a game-high 21 points for Spruce Mountain (6-0).

GARDINER 60, WATERVILLE 22: Lauren Chadwick scored 14 points to lead the Tigers to a KVAC B win over the Purple Panthers.

Mary Toman scored 14 points and had nine rebounds, while Leslie Stevens added nine points for the Tigers (3-3).

Mackenzie St. Pierre led Waterville (0-6) with nine points. Sophie Webb added six points.

BOYS BASKETBALL

BELFAST 56, ERSKINE 36: The Lions jumped out to a 10-point lead by the end of the first quarter and never looked back in a win over the Eagles in South China.

Andrew Browne had a team-high seven points for Erskine (0-6), while Josh Reed and Trevor Browne finished with six points each.

MONMOUTH 37, ST. DOM’S 31: Luke Thombs and Kasey Smith scored eight points apiece to lead Monmouth to victory over St. Dom’s in Auburn.

Tyler Gosselin and Nick Sanborn added six points each for the Mustangs (4-3). Becket Wagner led St. Dom’s (1-6) with 14 points while Michael Bryant added 12.
