Christmas Eve Masses are set for 4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24, at St. Augustine Church in Augusta; St. Francis Church in Winthrop; St. Mary Church in Augusta; and St. Denis Church in Whitefield. The Great O Antiphons will take place at 5:45 p.m. followed by a Mass at 6 p.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Church in Gardiner.

Masses are also scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday in St. Augustine Church; St. Mary Church; Sacred Heart Church, Hallowell; and 6:30 p.m. in St. Francis Church.

The final Christmas Eve Mass will begin at 9 p.m. in St. Joseph Church.

Christmas Day Masses will take place at 8 a.m. in St. Mary Church; 9 a.m. in St. Joseph Church and St. Francis Church; and 10 a.m. in St. Augustine Church.

Parishioners planning to attend the 6 p.m. Christmas Mass in St. Joseph Church in Gardiner, are encouraged to be seated no later than 5:40 p.m. for the Great O Antophons that takes place before the Mass. This is a liturgical celebration with choir music, scripture commentary and candle lightings —a farewell to advent and rejoicing for the Christmas season. Participants will include St. Joseph choir members, Scott and Andrea Goulette and their children Andrew, Evelyn, Anita and Sarah, and Clarence McKay, commentator.
