AUGUSTA — Police arrested an Augusta man and are seeking his nephew for allegedly burglarizing Damon’s Beverage Barn on Christmas Eve.

Anthony Murphy, 45, was arrested Tuesday on an outstanding warrant and charged with burglary, criminal mischief, theft and probation revocation.

His nephew Justin Murphy, 26, also of Augusta, is being sought by police on charges of burglary, theft and criminal mischief in connection with the incident at the 75 Bangor St. business.

Anthony Murphy was arrested a short time after police, with a search warrant, searched a Fowler Street residence where they believe both suspects were staying. Police, according to a news release, found property at the residence associated with the alleged Damon’s burglary. They declined to describe the items.

Police responded Dec. 25 to the report of the burglary which they believe took place the evening of Dec. 24. Police said they found evidence at the scene that allowed them to identify the two Murphys as suspects.

Bail for Anthony Murphy was set at $5,000.

Justin Murphy has a warrant out for his arrest, and police ask anyone who may know of his whereabouts to call Augusta Police at 626-2370.
