WATERVILLE — Corey Huerfano and Adam Barrer each scored 14 points as the Waterville boys basketball team recorded its first win of the season, 52-46, over Belfast in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference B game Tuesday.

Nick Elias and Devon Begin chipped in with nine and eight points, respectively, for Waterville (1-7).

Stephen Davis had a game-high 20 points for Belfast (3-5).

MESSALONSKEE 64, SKOWHEGAN 29: Nick Mayo poured in 24 points, eight rebounds and four assists as the Eagles topped the Indians in a KVAC A game in Oakland.

Taylor Turner added 15 points for Messalonskee (4-4), Jack Bernatchez finished with six points and six rebounds and Sawyer Michaud chipped in with seven assists.

Issac Witham led Skowhegan (2-5) with 19 points.

WINSLOW 73, ERSKINE 26: Justin Martin had 16 points and 13 rebounds to lead the host Black Raiders to the KVAC B win.

Nason Lanphier scored a game-high 26 points and six assists for Winslow (8-0) while Colby Robertson was also in double figures with 10 points.

Erskine (0-8) was led by Trever Browne with eight points.

BANGOR 60, MT. BLUE 48: In a game that saw both teams combine for 14 3-pointers, the Rams outscored the Cougars 22-11 in the fourth quarter to pull away for the KVAC A win in Farmington.

Andrew Hillier, Ethan Dorman and Justin Smith led Bangor (3-4) with 14, 13 and 12 points, respectively.

Moses Clark knocked down four 3-pointers en route to 13 points for Mt. Blue (1-6) and Zack Mittelstadt chipped in with 11 points.

MOUNT VIEW 48, NOKOMIS 39: Colby Furrow (17 points) and Nathan Wren (11) led the Mustangs (4-4) to a KVAC B win over the Warriors in Newport.

Joshua Smestad and Sam Brown scored 14 and 10 points, respectively, for Nokomis (2-6).

GIRLS BASKETBALL

WATERVILLE 48, BELFAST 40: Jordan Jabar nearly recorded a triple-double (20 points, 17 rebounds, nine steals) as the Purple Panthers picked up their second win in as many tries.

Fotini Shanos — playing in her first game back after suffering a high ankle sprain — and Emma Cristan added nine points each for Waterville (2-6).

Breann Cummings paced Belfast (0-8) with 12 points.

NOKOMIS 42, MOUNT VIEW 32: Mikayla Charters and Olivia Brown combined for 10 points in the third quarter as the Warriors pulled away and went on to the win in Thorndike.

Charters finished with 14 points and Brown added 11 for Nokomis (4-4), which led 22-17 at the half and 37-23 at the end of the third quarter.

Megan Elkins led Mount View (1-7) with 10 points.

WINSLOW 57, ERSKINE 34: The Black Raiders used an 18-4 run in the second quarter to pull away for a 23-point victory in South China.

Devin Fitzgibbons and Hannah Doble scored 14 and 11 points, respectively, for Winslow (6-2).

Malorie Weaver led Erskine (1-7) with nine points.

RANGELEY 61, GREENVILLE 17: The Rangeley Lakers ran their record to 7-0 with an East-West win over the Greenville Lakers in Rangeley.

Rangeley’s Sevey Deery-Deraps outscored Greenville herself with a game-high 21 points, Blayke Morin added 10 points, Natasha Haley scored nine and Taylor Esty had eight.

Ashley Mace led Greenville (1-7) with six points.

BANGOR 50, MT. BLUE 39: The Rams led by 18 at halftime on their way to the KVAC A win over the Cougars in Bangor.

Bangor (7-0) led 17-4 after one quarter and 30-12 at the half. Mary Butler hit three 3-pointers and scored 15 points for Bangor. The Rams finished 6-12 last season.

Caitlin Kane had 16 points and three steals for Mt. Blue (3-3).

MONMOUTH 45, MT. ABRAM 23: Maddie Amero scored a game-high 18 points to lead the Mustangs past the Roadrunners in an Mountain Valley Conference game played in Monmouth.

Sidney Wilson added eight points, five steals and five assists for Monmouth (5-2), while Abbey Allen chipped in with six points.

Olivia Ryan was the lone Mt. Abram (0-6) player in double figures with 10 points.
