The end of 2014 also marks the end of the year for several Maine hunting seasons.

Wednesday is the final day of the year for the ruffed grouse, bobwhite quail and pheasant seasons. Grouse and quail have a daily limit of four while pheasant hunters are limited to two.

It’s also the end of the season for gray squirrel, which have a daily limit of four. The falconry season for gray squirrel extends until Feb. 28 and also has a limit of four.

Wednesday is also the final day for hunting some small game animals that are not subject to daily limits. These include raccoon, skunk and opossum.
