Gov. Paul LePage on Friday nominated Richard Rosen to be commissioner of the Department of Administrative and Financial Services.

Rosen, a Bucksport native, had been serving in the post on an interim basis since the retirement in May of H. Sawin Millett Jr.

The nomination must be confirmed by the Senate. Rosen previously served as the deputy commissioner of finance. Before that, he was director of the Governor’s Office of Policy and Management.

Prior to joining the LePage administration, Rosen was a senator representing parts of Hancock and Penobscot counties and co-chairman of the budget-writing Appropriations Committee.

“For the last seven months, (Rosen) has led DAFS through many important initiatives, including the development of my upcoming biennial budget,” LePage said in a statement. “Richard is a dedicated public servant, and he will continue to serve the people of Maine well as commissioner.”
