Spectrum Generations, central Maine’s Area Agency on Aging and Aging and Disability Resource Center, will host a free benefits check-up from 2 to 5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12, at the local town office of Rome. Spectrum GenerationsAdults and Disabilities Resource Specialist Mary Nicholas will be on hand to discuss various programs and services that could help residents of Kennebec County to save money in these difficult economic times, according to a news release from the Town Office. People are encouraged to stop by to see if you qualify for the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (formally Food Stamps), the Medicare Savings Program, MaineCare, Supplemental Security Income, and the Home Energy Assistance Programs.
