Abreal Whitman, 13, of Augusta, will perform with Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras’ to present a semi-staged opera – VERDI’s Un Ballo in Maschera (A Masked Ball), according to a BYSO news release.
The performance will take place at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18, at Sanders Theatre Harvard University. This one-time only performance will be conducted by BYSO Music Director Federico Cortese with stage direction by Edward Berkeley, and will include renowned professional singers, Boston area chorus and singers, costumes and more.
This is the only youth orchestra in the country to present full, semi-staged operas and this will mark its eighth consecutive season doing so, according to the release.
