A Wilton man is due to appear in Franklin County District Court March 3 for allegedly trying to break into the Mt. Blue Drug Store Friday night at Mt. Blue Shopping Plaza in Farmington, according to a Farmington Police Department press release.

Kenneth Nurse, 62, was arrested after the incident by Farmington police Officer Michael Lyman and charged with aggravated criminal mischief, operating under the influence and attempted burglary.

Two men on their way to pick up a takeout dinner alerted police to the attempted burglary at 6:15 p.m. Friday, according to the release.

“The witnesses watched as a plow truck hit the building near the back emergency exit,” it said. “As the witnesses looked closer, they could see the truck caused extensive damage to the door. The witnesses watched the suspect vehicle from a safe distance until the police arrived.”

When officers arrived, they discovered the rear door to the pharmacy was heavily damaged. Numerous tire tracks showed the truck driver tried repeatedly to break down the back door using the snow plow on the pickup truck, according to the release. Lyman, as well as Farmington police Officer Derrick Doucette, Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies and a local state police detective, stopped Nurse as he tried to drive away from the scene, according to the release.
