The Aliza Jean Family Cancer Foundation recently received a $2,500 grant from the Bangor Savings Bank Foundation to help provide financial support for local families who have a child fighting cancer, according to a release from the cancer foundation.

The Aliza Jean Family Cancer Foundation was formed in 2013 by Craig and Karen Stutzman, of Harmony, after their daughter Aliza, lost her battle with brain cancer in January 2013. During Aliza’s eight-month fight, her needs were so great that her parents dedicated themselves to around the clock care. The community stepped up and helped the family emotionally, spiritually as well as financially which allowed the family to be by her side through her entire journey. It is the Aliza Jean Family Cancer Foundation’s goal to give the same kind of support to families in their area whose child is fighting cancer.

“Bangor Savings Bank is pleased to support the Aliza Jean Family Cancer Foundation which provides support to Maine families who have a child fighting cancer,” said Stacie Gould, Bangor Savings Bank’s Skowhegan Branch manager, in the release.
