Online registration for the 18th annual Beach to Beacon 10K Road Race will be held on March 12 and 13.

Cape Elizabeth residents will get the opportunity to register for 600 slots on March 12 at 7 a.m. The slots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. The 600 slots filled in less than seven minutes last year.

Registration for the 4,000 slots alloted to the general public will start at 7 a.m. March 13. Again, it will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Last year the 4,000 slots were filled in a record four minutes and 32 seconds.

Registration can be done on the race website: www.beach2beacon.org. The race entry fee is $50.

A lottery for the 1,950 remaining slots will begin immediately after online registration ends. It will continue through 11:59 p.m. March 22 with those selected through the lottery notified on March 24. Winner’s names will be posted on the website. There will be a $5 fee to enter the lottery. Participants can enter as an individual or part of a team of up to six members.

Transfers will be allowed from April 1 through June 30 for a $5 transfer fee.

The race, which attracts some of the best runners in the world, will be held on Saturday, Aug. 1. More than $60,000 in prize money will be awarded in various categories for men and women. The race charity will receive a $30,000 donation.
