AUGUSTA — A man who spent 10 years in prison for burglarizing 123 homes and businesses in 10 of Maine’s 16 counties pleaded guilty Tuesday to following the same path after his release from prison.

Glen G. Michaud, 52, of Smyrna, was sentenced to five years in prison for charges relating to break-ins at Coastal Car Wash in Damariscotta on Feb. 2, 2014, and Dunkin’ Donuts in Farmingdale a day later.

The latter burglary was investigated almost immediately because a delivery truck driver reported seeing someone leaving the scene who was clad all in black clothing and carrying a bag. Images of the burglary were caught on the store’s video camera.

Michaud was arrested Feb. 9, 2014, in Gorham, N.H., for breaking into a Dunkin’ Donuts there and confessed to a number of commercial burglaries in Maine and New Hampshire. Michaud was sentenced Tuesday in Kennebec County Superior Court to five years in prison for conviction on the latest charges. He also was ordered to pay $1,600 restitution.

In his 2003 convictions, which took place in courts in Kennebec and Somerset counties, he was sentenced to a total of 40 years in prison, with all but 10 years suspended, and eight years of probation. He had been released from the Central Maine Pre-Release Center on Dec. 23, 2012, according to Scott Fish, spokesman for the Maine Department of Corrections.

Part of Tuesday’s sentencing of Michaud was a revocation of eight years of the earlier sentence to run concurrent to the new, five-year term.
